Prepare Your Moving Time-line Checklist
At least one month before your move you should:
*Verify both you and the buyer have copies of all transaction documents.
*Calculate all moving costs.
*Make a list all your valuable personal items.
*Buy moving boxes, tape, rope and packing blankets.
*Begin packing now.
*Plan a garage sale or donate extra stuff to Good Will.
*Notify all everyone of your move and change of address.
*Transfer copies of medical, banking, legal and school records.
*Notify your insurance agent of your move.
*Map out your travel route.
Three Weeks Before Move:
*Schedule utility service activation for your new address.
*Confirm moving day with your moving company
*Tell your banker and transfer accounts if possible.
*Find important papers like your will, insurance, deeds and stocks.
Two Weeks Before Move:
Service your vehicles for the trip.
Place garage door openers, house keys, mailbox keys and appliance warranties in the main kitchen drawer.
Confirm trip itinerary for mileage hotel.
Make a list of contacts for travel emergencies.
Schedule utility disconnects for the day of your move.
One Week Before Move:
Defrost Refrigerator/Freezer
Pack last boxes.
Fill any necessary prescriptions.
Arrange for care for pets and children on day of move.
Moving Day:
Record all utility meter readings.
Review inventory checklist with your mover.
Fill up your car with gas
